David McLaren NDP Candidate for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound
David McLaren is an award-winning communicator who’s been working hard to tackle income inequality and environmental threats in our community. Now he’s ready to take the fight to Parliament alongside Tom Mulcair.

As a communications professional, David has worked for government, the private sector, the arts, environmental NGOs and First Nations. Highlights include heading up communications for the Canadian Environmental Law Association, for the Alliance of Television & Radio Artists (ACTRA), and for the Nawash and Saugeen First Nations.

David is also an award-winning writer. You may have read his feature articles in the Sun Times. Or you may know him best as one of three “Wise Guys” pontificating on CFOS and 97.7 The Beach. Widely trusted by his colleagues, he is a past-president of the Toronto Writers’ Guild and a three-time elected board member at ACTRA.

David has put his heart into fighting for progress on local issues. With Peace and Justice Grey Bruce, he has a led an extensive campaign on precarious work—mounting public forums and developing an extensive submission to Owen Sound and Grey County. He has also served on the board of the Coalition for the Niagara Escarpment.

For years, David has built collaborative relationships with First Nations, locally and across Canada. In addition to coordinating communications for Nawash and Saugeen, he has been an environmental consultant both for the Assembly of First Nations and the Chiefs of Ontario.

All told, David has put years into advocating for First Nations, for a clean environment, and for local prosperity that’s more equally shared. As part of Tom Mulcair’s NDP team, he’s ready to get even more done in Parliament.
