On May 12th 2017, six Young New Democrats met to discuss Socialist values and obstacles youth have to overcome living in Bruce and Grey Counties. On July 19th 2017, we voted to bring forward a constitution and we became Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound New Democratic Youth. on July 23rd 2017, Ontario's New Democratic Youth (ONDY) voted to ratify our constitution making us an official ONDY Chapter. Over the last eight months we have participated in the Labour Day March in Port Elgin, a Day of Outreach at Georgian College and the Meet Jagmeet Day of Action Right across the riding. we have participated in riding association meetings, South West and Provincial Council meetings, Labour Council meetings and the Ontario NDP's Convention. we have worked hard and grown our group to more than 15 active members and for the last event of the year we will be having an Annual General Meeting / Christmas Party. this will be a good time to relax before the year ends and to come together to plan for the future. The Young Democratic Socialist Movement is alive and well in Bruce Grey and will Continue to grow.

At our 1st AGM we will elect our youth executive. Our Keynote Speaker David Trumble from the Grey Bruce Labour Council will talk about the importance of youth in the labour movement.

The Young New Democrats include NDP members aged 25 and below. // Les Jeunes néo-démocrates regroupe les membres du NPD âgés de 25 ans et moins.

    Mission
Our mission is to get the youth in our area more involved in politics. We hope to help shed light on issues relevant to the young people in our area and to come together to affect positive change in our country.

We are working as part of the NDP to shift the focus all levels of our government towards social democracy. We hope to achieve this through support of New Democratic policies and causes that contribute to social and economic justice.

"My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful, and optimistic and we'll change the world."
    -Jack Layton (2011)
