Over the last year the BGOS NDY has more than doubled its membership. Initiatives like the Jagmeet day of action and the Georgian outreach day in September brought in the bulk of these members. This allowed the BGOS NDY to be the largest NDP contingent at last year’s Ontario model parliament. The youth mobilized during the election campaign and were instrumental in making sure canvassing happened. In the coming year the BGOS NDY hopes to recruit new members with another outreach at Georgian college in the fall and through youth centered events like the youth debate organized with our counterparts in other local parties. The youth will be aiding the labour council in the planning of the September labour day parade as well as well as participating in it. The BGOS NDY hopes to expand our capabilities by running fundraising events in the near future. Our main goal over the next year though is to lay the ground work, in conjunction with the executive, to put a Bruce Grey Owen Sound NDP MP in parliament in 2019.
